Urgent Legal Translation Services for Law Firms in the UK

Legal translation operates under constraints that most other document types do not. Deadlines are set by courts, not by clients. The consequences of a mistranslation in a witness statement, a contract, or a court bundle are not aesthetic — they are procedural. And the volume of material that arrives with an urgent instruction can be substantial. LingvoHouse provides certified legal translation services for law firms, barristers’ chambers, and in-house legal teams across the UK, with the capacity to handle urgent and overnight instructions across a wide range of languages and document types.

What LingvoHouse Delivers for Legal Translation

Legal translation at LingvoHouse is handled exclusively by human translators with legal subject-matter experience — not general commercial translators, and not machine translation systems. All work is carried out under an ISO 17100-certified workflow, which requires translation by a qualified linguist followed by independent review by a second. For court-bound documents, this two-stage process is not optional.

Document types handled include:

  • Court bundles — translated in full, with pagination and document structure preserved
  • Witness statements and affidavits — translated with certification where required for UK court submission
  • Contracts and commercial agreements — including supply agreements, shareholder agreements, and employment contracts
  • Immigration and asylum documentation — personal statements, country of origin materials, supporting evidence
  • Corporate legal documents — articles of association, board resolutions, powers of attorney
  • Regulatory and compliance correspondence — including FCA, CMA, and sector-specific regulatory submissions
  • Expert reports and medical-legal documents — translated by linguists with relevant technical background

Certified translation — providing a signed statement of accuracy and the translator’s qualifications — is available as standard for documents requiring court acceptance or submission to a UK regulatory body.

Languages covered include French, German, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, alongside a broad range of additional languages available on request.

For urgent translation specifically for local authorities and other Public Sector organisation, including within the Legal Aid rate, please see more in our Translation Services for UK Councils & Public Sector Bodies page.

Who Uses This Service

Litigation solicitors and barristers' chambers

managing cases that involve foreign-language evidence, witnesses, or parties. The most common instruction is a court bundle or witness statement requiring certified translation ahead of a hearing, often with a deadline measured in hours rather than days.

Immigration and asylum solicitors

who work with clients whose supporting documentation — personal statements, medical records, country of origin evidence — arrives in a language other than English and must be translated before a tribunal hearing or Home Office submission.

Corporate and commercial solicitors

handling cross-border transactions, due diligence exercises, or disputes that involve contracts, correspondence, or regulatory filings in foreign languages. These projects are less likely to be urgent but require terminological precision and confidentiality.

In-house legal teams

at UK-listed companies or multinationals who require translation of regulatory correspondence, board-level documentation, or compliance materials on an ongoing basis. Legal teams of local authorities & Public Law law firms acting for childcare proceedings.

Legal process outsourcing providers and e-discovery teams

who require high-volume document translation for litigation support, often with specific format and metadata requirements. All projects are handled under confidentiality as standard. LingvoHouse operates under ISO 27001-certified information security management systems, and NDAs are available for clients whose matter sensitivity requires them.

How the Process Works

Instruction received. The solicitor or legal team contacts LingvoHouse with the documents, the target language, the required certification status, and the deadline. Instructions can be submitted via lingvohouse.com or directly by email for established clients.

Assessment and confirmation. The project manager assesses the document volume, confirms translator availability for the required language and subject matter, and provides a quote and confirmed turnaround time. For urgent instructions, this assessment is carried out immediately on receipt.

  • Translation by a specialist legal linguist. The assigned translator works on the document with reference to any existing glossary or terminology guide supplied by the client. Legal translators at LingvoHouse are selected for subject-matter experience relevant to the document type — a contract is not handled by the same translator as an immigration personal statement.
  • Independent review. A second linguist reviews the translation against the source document, in line with the ISO 17100 workflow. For urgent instructions, review is built into the timeline — it is not sacrificed to meet a deadline.
  • Certification and delivery. Where certification is required, the translator provides a signed statement of accuracy confirming the translation is complete and correct to the best of their knowledge and professional ability, along with their qualifications and contact details.
  • Delivery and sign-off. Files are returned in the agreed format — native source files, press-ready PDFs, or both. If the client requires amendments following internal review, a revision round is included as standard. Final files are delivered via secure transfer, where required — in hard copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a certified legal translation include?

A certified translation from LingvoHouse includes the translated document and a signed statement from the translator confirming the translation is accurate and complete, together with the translator’s name, qualifications, and contact details. This format is accepted by UK courts, the Home Office, and most regulatory bodies for submission purposes. If a specific format is required by the receiving body, the project manager will confirm compatibility before the translation is finalised.

Can LingvoHouse handle overnight or same-day legal translation?

Same-day and overnight translation is available for urgent legal instructions, subject to document volume and language availability. Court bundle translation overnight is a regular instruction type for LingvoHouse — the project manager will confirm whether the volume and deadline are achievable on receipt of the documents. For time-critical matters, contacting LingvoHouse as early in the day as possible maximises the options available.

How is confidentiality managed for sensitive legal documents?

All documents submitted to LingvoHouse are handled under confidentiality as standard. Files are stored and transferred within ISO 27001-certified information security systems. For matters requiring a formal confidentiality agreement, NDAs are available on request before any documents are shared.

Does LingvoHouse translate court bundles in full, including all exhibits?

Yes. Court bundle translation includes all component documents — the bundle index, witness statements, exhibits, correspondence, and any supporting materials — rather than selected pages. The pagination and document structure of the original bundle are preserved in the translation. If certain documents within a bundle are already in English and do not require translation, the project manager confirms the exact scope before work begins.

For more details on how we handle translation of court bundles, please see our Court Bundle Translation Services page.
